Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Chattanooga, Tennessee
Take your expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to the next level with a dynamic contract opportunity in the Chattanooga area. Beginning August 5th, 2026, and running through May 19th, 2027, this full-time (35 hours/week) assignment offers the chance to support K-12+ students across multiple campuses in a highly collaborative school environment. The role is itinerant, with travel thoughtfully scheduled to minimize commute times between schools, and there’s potential for part-time flexibility if your schedule requires.
You’ll be at the forefront of delivering specialized education to a diverse caseload, equally divided among elementary, middle, and high school students. Your work will make a genuine difference for those learning in general education settings and those with multiple disabilities in specialized classrooms.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Current and active DOE Certification
- Proficiency in teaching Braille and using Assistive Technology
- Experience working with the Federal Quota program is a plus
- Familiarity with IEP platforms, especially TN Pulse
- Previous itinerant teaching experience is highly advantageous
- Comfortable collaborating in IEP meetings
- Knowledge of Chromebook technology in the classroom
- Ability to complete time-sensitive fingerprinting and credentialing

- Traveling between assigned schools to serve caseload
- Delivering instruction to K-12+ students with visual impairments
- Designing and implementing customized learning plans
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on IEPs
- Supporting students in both general and special education settings
- Keeping accurate records and integrating assistive technology
