What You’ll Bring:
- Valid DOE Certification for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students with visual impairments across elementary, middle, and high school levels
- Familiarity with Braille and experience using Assistive Technology in educational settings (bonus for expertise with Federal Quota program)
- Knowledge of inclusive practices for both general education and special classroom environments
- Proficiency with IEP processes and experience participating in meetings (TN Pulse platform a plus)
- Comfortable with an itinerant model, traveling between assigned schools within the district
- Commitment to flexibility—full-time (35 hours/week) preferred, but part-time options may be considered
- Ability to pass fingerprint and background checks in accordance with credentialing requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, both in general and special education classrooms
- Assess and support students’ needs, adapting lessons and materials for accessibility
- Collaborate with IEP teams and contribute to individualized education plan development and implementation
- Train staff and students in the use of Assistive Technology, including Chromebooks and relevant software
- Travel between schools within a defined geographical area to maximize service efficiency and limit travel time
