Key Qualifications:
- Valid and active DOE Certification required
- Experience with Braille instruction and knowledge of Assistive Technology
- Familiarity with accessing assistive technology through the Federal Quota program is a plus
- Previous work in school settings supporting K-12 students with visual impairments preferred
- Proficiency navigating the TN Pulse platform for IEP processes
- Willingness to complete required fingerprinting/background checks before start
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to visually impaired students in both general and special education settings
- Travel between schools within the district, collaborating with site staff to support student success
- Participate in IEP meetings, working alongside multidisciplinary teams for optimal student progress
- Train and coach school staff and families to ensure consistent use of Braille and accessible technology
- Customize instructional materials and strategies to foster student independence and inclusion
- Utilize Chromebooks to facilitate student access to curriculum and resources
