Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in educational settings
- Familiarity with Braille instruction, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility techniques
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, families, and students
- Ability to develop and adapt instructional materials to meet individual student needs
- Organizational skills and flexibility for managing caseloads and multiple priorities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, large print materials, and the use of assistive devices and technology
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to adapt curriculum and classroom environments
- Conduct ongoing assessments and track student progress toward educational goals
- Advocate for student access, accommodations, and independence within the school setting
- Serve as a valuable resource for families, teachers, and support staff regarding best practices for supporting visually impaired students
