Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Chicago, Illinois

Ideal candidates will possess:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students with visual impairments in a school or educational setting
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
- Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized plans
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Adaptability when working with diverse student populations
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in small groups
- Supporting access to curriculum materials through adaptations, including Braille, large print, and digital formats
- Training students in the use of assistive technology and independent living skills
- Consulting with classroom teachers and staff to promote inclusive strategies
- Collaborating with families and other professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Conducting functional vision and learning media assessments as needed
