Teacher of Visually Impaired in Elida, NM

Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid New Mexico state and department of education license in either Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or Orientation & Mobility Specialist (OMS)
- Experience or strong interest in serving K-12 students with visual impairments
- Ability to design and adapt curriculum and materials for visually impaired learners
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with students, families, and educational teams
- Commitment to fostering independence and promoting inclusive classroom experiences
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) aligned with students' unique needs
- Directly instruct students in Braille, assistive technology, daily living skills, and orientation & mobility techniques
- Assess progress and adjust strategies to maximize student outcomes
- Consult with classroom teachers and staff on best practices for accessible learning environments
- Advocate for and facilitate accommodations to support student inclusion and academic success
- Maintain organized and accurate student records and documentation
