Qualifications and Experience:
- Certified teacher with endorsement or credential in Visual Impairment (TVI)
- Experience teaching or supporting K-12 students with visual impairments
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to adapt lesson plans and assessments based on individual student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are visually impaired across multiple grade levels
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals specific to visual impairment
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ functional vision and learning media needs
- Train students on the use of assistive devices including Braille writers, magnifiers, and screen reading software
- Serve as a resource for classroom teachers, helping modify curriculum and classroom environments
- Communicate progress and strategies with parents and staff, fostering student independence and confidence
- Stay informed about best practices and advancements in the field of visual impairment education
