A contract opportunity is available for a skilled and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to serve students across multiple schools near Dallas, TX. This full-time, on-site position spans the 2026-2027 academic year and offers the chance to work with a diverse caseload of 12-15 students, including those who are homebound. The role is itinerant, covering approximately six campuses, with some flexibility required as caseload and campus assignments may evolve throughout the school year.
Qualifications:
- Current and active Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI) license required
- Prior experience working as a TVI in a school setting is highly preferred
- Skilled in adapting curriculum and instructional materials for students with varying degrees of visual impairment
- Strong organizational skills to manage an itinerant schedule across multiple campuses
- Compassionate communicator, able to collaborate effectively with students, families, teachers, and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and services to students with visual impairments, both in classroom and homebound settings
- Conduct assessments to develop and monitor individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Provide training and consultation to teachers, staff, and families on best practices and assistive technology
- Support the transition and inclusion of students in general education activities
- Keep thorough records of student progress and maintain up-to-date documentation
