Qualifications and Preferred Experience:

• Active certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Previous experience working with school-aged children who are blind or visually impaired
• Strong understanding of the unique educational needs and accommodations for visually impaired students
• Proficiency with adaptive technology, Braille instruction, and orientation & mobility techniques
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary staff
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess students’ abilities and customize lesson plans to meet individual needs
• Provide direct instruction in Braille, assistive technology, and daily living skills
• Collaborate with general and special education teachers to adapt classroom materials and environments
• Advocate for students’ inclusion and access to the full curriculum
• Serve as a resource for staff and families, offering insights on best practices and strategies
• Track progress and maintain thorough, accurate records in alignment with regulatory standards
