Take on a rewarding opportunity supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a friendly educational environment near Forney, TX. This contract role offers the chance to make a real difference for K-12 learners, providing specialized instruction and guidance to a diverse caseload of 35 students. You will work Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, collaborating with staff and families to empower learners with visual impairments.
What we’re looking for:
- Valid TVI certification for Texas
- Experience teaching students with visual impairments (K-12 preferred)
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn about Monarch devices
- Expertise in Braille instruction, or interest in developing these skills (5 students require Braille support)
- Ability to conduct evaluations and provide both direct and consultative services
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
In this role, you will:
- Develop and adapt individualized educational plans for students with visual impairments
- Deliver Braille and assistive technology instruction where needed
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
- Complete student assessments and required documentation
- Offer both direct instructional services and consultative support to classroom staff
- Foster independence and confidence in students as they access the school curriculum
