Desired Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students who have visual impairments in a school setting
- Strong understanding of braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility concepts
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ functional vision and learning needs
- Provide direct instructional services to individuals or small groups
- Adapt curriculum and materials for accessible learning
- Collaborate with general education teachers and other service providers to ensure integration of supports
- Consult with families, offering strategies for effective advocacy and involvement
- Track and document student progress, maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations
- Participate in IEP meetings, contributing insights and recommendations to optimize student success
