Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Houston, Texas
Make a meaningful impact by supporting students with visual impairments in a dynamic school setting near Houston, TX. This contract opportunity involves serving as an itinerant teacher for the visually impaired, providing support across a variety of campuses within the district. You'll collaborate with students, families, and staff to help every learner achieve success and independence.
What You’ll Bring:
- Valid TVI educator license (required)
- Experience as a teacher for the visually impaired in school-based settings
- Ability to manage a districtwide, itinerant caseload and adapt to changing environments
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to inclusive educational practices and supporting diverse learning needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and consultative services for students with visual impairments
- Assess student abilities, develop individualized education plans (IEPs), and monitor student growth
- Adapt and create accessible learning materials, including braille and assistive technology
- Train and support staff on best practices for working with visually impaired students
- Maintain accurate records, attend IEP meetings, and contribute to team decision-making
- Travel between campuses as needed to provide direct and consultative services
This position runs from ASAP through July 3, 2026, with 32.5 onsite hours per week in a supportive educational community. As a valued contributor, your expertise will foster independence and academic success for students across the district.
