Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid certification or credential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Prior experience working with visually impaired or blind students in an educational setting
- Thorough understanding of adaptive technology, Braille, and instructional strategies specific to visual impairment
- Ability to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with strong advocacy for student needs
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Design and adapt curriculum materials to ensure accessibility for students with visual impairments
- Assess student abilities, monitor progress, and revise instructional goals as required
- Conduct direct instruction in Braille literacy, orientation and mobility, daily living skills, and use of assistive technology
- Provide training and consultation for classroom teachers and support staff on vision-related accommodations
- Engage with parents and caregivers, maintaining regular communication on student progress
- Support IEP development and attend related meetings as an integral team member
