Teacher for the Visually Impaired - Hutto, Texas

Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain certification
- Previous experience working with children or youth with visual impairments preferred
- Strong understanding of Braille instruction, adaptive technology, and accessible educational materials
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and other educators
- Flexibility and creativity in adapting instruction to meet diverse learner needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive instruction tailored to students with visual impairments across grade levels
- Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to the evaluation process for appropriate services
- Collaborate with general education teachers to provide accommodations and modify classroom materials
- Instruct students in Braille, orientation and mobility skills, assistive technology, and self-advocacy
- Communicate regularly with families, support staff, and school administration regarding student progress and needs
- Maintain detailed records and participate in IEP meetings, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
