Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement
- Experience or strong interest in consultative educational services for visually impaired students
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including teachers, families, and support staff
- Organization and flexibility for scheduling consults within provided timeframes
Responsibilities:
- Provide professional consultative services directly related to the needs of students with visual impairments
- Offer 30 minutes of services each month, and an additional 30-minute session three times per school year during predetermined yet flexible periods
- Develop and share educational strategies with teachers and staff to foster inclusive classroom environments
- Consult with families to offer support, guidance, and recommendations tailored to student learning objectives
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and recommendations, ensuring compliance with state and program requirements
- Support the educational team in adapting curriculum materials and classroom resources to increase accessibility for visually impaired students
