The assignment begins on September 1, 2026, and continues through June 16, 2027. As a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), your expertise will be instrumental in guiding students from Pre-K through 8th grade. This consultative role offers considerable autonomy, with service delivery requiring just 30 minutes per month, plus an additional 30-minute consult three times throughout the school year. Exact consultation times are flexible and may be scheduled at your convenience within the required timeframes.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Teaching the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students with visual impairments, preferably in school-based settings
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, able to work seamlessly with school teams, families, and related service providers
  • Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ability to provide consultative insight

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver consultative services for students with visual impairments, ensuring educational access and appropriate adaptations
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to develop or adapt instructional materials and strategies
  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing recommendations and progress updates
  • Offer guidance on orientation, mobility, and assistive technology needs as appropriate
  • Maintain documentation in accordance with district and state requirements
