Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired and/or Orientation and Mobility Specialist
- Proven ability to create individualized, adaptive educational materials and lesson plans for students with visual impairments
- Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and tactile graphics
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary educational teams
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to fostering independence, confidence, and accessible learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Work one-on-one and in small groups to deliver instruction tailored to individual needs
- Provide orientation and mobility training to increase student independence and safe navigation
- Develop and implement IEP goals related to visual impairment
- Consult with general education teachers and paraprofessionals to ensure appropriate classroom accommodations and modifications
- Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and recommend services
