Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Homosassa, FL

Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification preferred
- Experience working with students who are blind or have visual impairments
- Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for partnering with school teams, students, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver evidence-based instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum materials and teaching methods to individual student needs
- Conduct functional vision assessments, and orientation and mobility evaluations
- Develop and implement IEP goals and progress reports
- Provide orientation and mobility training to support safe, independent movement within the school and community environments
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, therapists, and other school staff to promote inclusive and accessible learning experiences
- Offer consultation regarding adaptive technology, Braille instruction, and classroom accommodations for students and staff
