Teacher of Visually Impaired in Brooksville, FL

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) and/or Orientation & Mobility Specialist (OMS)
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents who have visual impairments, including development of individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional materials
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop and adapt curriculum to meet diverse student needs
- Organizational skills for managing caseloads and documenting student progress
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments in individual and group settings
- Assess students’ abilities and develop personalized education and mobility plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Teach Braille reading and writing, daily living skills, and use of adaptive devices and technology
- Instruct students in orientation and mobility skills to safely navigate school, home, and community environments
- Consult with general educators to adapt classroom materials and support inclusive education
- Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and parent conferences to ensure comprehensive student support
