Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Dade City, Florida

Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)
- Experience working within school settings, collaborating with educators and families
- Strong understanding of adaptive technologies, Braille instruction, and effective classroom strategies for students with visual impairments
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for visually impaired students
- Commitment to fostering a safe and encouraging learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ visual functioning and orientation/mobility needs
- Deliver direct instruction in Braille, use of assistive technology, and sensory efficiency skills
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and ancillary staff to ensure accessible learning materials and environments
- Develop individualized strategies that promote independence and academic achievement
- Provide ongoing progress reports and adjust teaching approaches as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student planning
- Educate staff and caregivers on strategies and accommodations that benefit students with visual impairments
