This position is based on-site, serving approximately 12-15 students (including several homebound learners) ranging across six campuses. The caseload is adaptive, ensuring that every student's unique needs are met throughout the school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, active Texas State certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI)
- Proven experience supporting students with visual impairments, ideally in a school setting
- Exceptional communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to travel between assigned campuses daily (travel required within the district)
- Adept at adjusting to shifting caseloads and campus assignments
Essential Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services in accordance with IEPs to students with visual impairments, including homebound learners
- Adapt curriculum and materials, ensuring accessibility and fostering independence
- Work proactively with families, general and special education staff, and related service providers
- Provide training and resources to staff regarding the use of adaptive techniques and technologies
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in evaluations, assessments, and IEP meetings
