Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from an accredited institution
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience in providing individualized instruction to students, especially in one-on-one settings
- Strong knowledge of accessible educational materials, adaptive technology, and effective teaching strategies for visually impaired learners
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and encouraging learning atmosphere
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver customized instruction and adapt curriculum to suit the unique needs of visually impaired students in a 1:1 pediatric setting
- Assess, monitor, and document student progress, identifying appropriate goals and adaptations
- Consult with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student success
- Modify classroom materials, teaching techniques, and assessment tools according to student requirements
- Serve as an advocate and resource for students, promoting independence and confidence
