Desired qualifications and experience:
- Valid state teaching certification with appropriate endorsement in visual impairment
- Prior experience or specialized training working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in school settings
- Comprehensive understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility strategies
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication skills, flexibility, and a passion for advocacy
Primary responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to K-12 students with visual impairments at various school sites
- Provide consultative support and training to classroom teachers and staff
- Assess student needs and progress, updating educational plans as required
- Collaborate with families and community resources to enhance student growth
- Travel between assigned sites, with mileage reimbursed
