What We’re Looking For:
- Active certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in Texas
- Experience working in K-12 educational settings preferred
- Strong organizational skills to manage an itinerant schedule across multiple campuses
- Ability to collaboratively consult with general education teachers, special educators, and parents
- Expertise in assessment, instructional planning, and use of adaptive technology for visually impaired students
- Reliable transportation for travel between campuses (note: no mileage reimbursement provided)
- Commitment to fostering student independence and inclusion
What You'll Do:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments across the district
- Provide consultative support to classroom teachers, adapting curriculum and resources
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
- Maintain accurate documentation, participate in ARD meetings, and develop IEP goals
- Support students’ use of assistive technology and braille as needed
- Promote self-advocacy and orientation/mobility skills for students
