Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience serving children with visual impairments in school settings
- Proficiency in braille instruction and braille production
- Familiarity with orientation and mobility techniques
- Strong interpersonal, consultation, and organizational skills
- Ability to design individualized instructional plans and adapt materials
Primary Duties:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both one-on-one and in small groups
- Produce accessible materials in braille and other formats as needed
- Conduct regular consults with classroom teachers, therapists, and parents to optimize student learning
- Assess student progress and update goals tailored to individual needs
- Provide guidance and strategies in orientation and mobility, supporting students’ independence throughout the school environment
- Document services and maintain thorough student records as required by regulations
