You will collaborate with staff to ensure appropriate accommodations, deliver targeted instruction, and offer valuable consults, all while developing meaningful relationships with students and their educational teams.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience serving children with visual impairments in school settings
  • Proficiency in braille instruction and braille production
  • Familiarity with orientation and mobility techniques
  • Strong interpersonal, consultation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to design individualized instructional plans and adapt materials

Primary Duties:

  • Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both one-on-one and in small groups
  • Produce accessible materials in braille and other formats as needed
  • Conduct regular consults with classroom teachers, therapists, and parents to optimize student learning
  • Assess student progress and update goals tailored to individual needs
  • Provide guidance and strategies in orientation and mobility, supporting students’ independence throughout the school environment
  • Document services and maintain thorough student records as required by regulations
