Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Proven experience instructing or supporting K-12 students with visual impairments
- Familiarity with adapting curriculum, instructional materials, and classroom technology for accessibility
- Strong communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments, aligning with their individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, staff, and families to facilitate successful inclusion
- Adapt classroom materials and technology to meet individual needs
- Guide and support staff on best practices and tools for visually impaired learners
- Maintain accurate records and track student progress
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute as a vital member of the student support team
