Qualifications and Skills:

• Valid teaching certification and licensure to instruct students who are visually impaired
• Previous experience working with visually impaired or blind students, preferably in a school environment
• Strong understanding of assistive technology, Braille instruction, tactile graphics, and accessible educational resources
• Ability to assess students’ functional vision and learning needs
• Excellent communication, consultative, and organizational skills
• Passion for promoting inclusivity and maximizing student potential

Responsibilities:

• Assess and identify the unique learning needs of students with visual impairments
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student
• Deliver direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility skills, use of adaptive technology, and independent living skills
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to adapt curricula and ensure full participation
• Advocate for appropriate modifications and resources to support student success
• Monitor and report on student progress, making data-driven adjustments as needed
