Key Qualifications:

• Valid state certification in Visual Impairment or eligibility to obtain.
• Experience or strong knowledge in teaching students with visual impairments across various age groups.
• Proficiency in creating and implementing IEPs (Individualized Education Plans).
• Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and adapted instructional materials.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with parents, teachers, and related service providers.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible, and encouraging learning environment.
• Flexibility to adapt to varying student needs and school routines.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assess students’ visual functioning and tailor instruction accordingly.
• Develop and deliver specialized lessons using accommodations and adaptive technology.
• Consult with classroom teachers to modify curriculum and support integration.
• Teach compensatory skills including orientation and mobility, daily living, and social skills as appropriate.
• Monitor progress, conduct evaluations, and maintain timely, accurate records.
• Engage in meetings (including IEP) and collaborate on goal setting.
• Provide training and resources to staff and families on best practices and available supports.
