Teacher of Visually Impaired in Peabody, MA

Qualifications and Experience:
- Holds an active Visually Impaired (VI) Teacher License/MA DOE License
- Has successfully passed all required MTELs
- Prior experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers and support staff
- Strong advocacy and communication skills
- Adaptable, resourceful, and dedicated to fostering independence in students
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized instruction for students with visual impairments
- Consult with classroom teachers to accommodate and modify classroom materials
- Assess and regularly monitor student progress toward IEP goals
- Provide direct instruction in specialized skills such as Braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility (if within scope)
- Ensure all educational documentation is accurate and up to date
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere for students
