Qualifications:
- Current, active Visually Impaired (VI) Teacher License and MA Department of Education license required
- Successful completion of the MTELs
- Expertise in adapting curriculum and utilizing assistive technology for students with visual impairments
- Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and service providers
- Strong communication, organization, and advocacy skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments
- Develop and modify Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to unique student needs
- Employ Braille, large print, and accessible technologies in lesson development and delivery
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and contribute knowledgeable insight to multidisciplinary planning
- Offer consultative services and training to general education staff and families to support best practices for accessibility
