Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Lumberton, NC
Make a meaningful impact supporting students with visual impairments for the upcoming school year! This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to work with elementary, middle, and high school students and collaborate within a dynamic educational setting. This role runs from August 10, 2026, through May 27, 2027, following a Monday through Friday schedule (37.5 hours weekly). You will work closely with students, staff, and families to ensure access, inclusion, and academic growth.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Experience working across multiple grade levels (elementary, middle, and high school preferred)
- Strong understanding of instructional strategies and accommodations for visually impaired students
- Commitment to maintaining compliance with district and state standards
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organization skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to each student's needs
- Adapt materials and teaching methods as outlined by district guidelines
- Conduct ongoing assessments using both formal and informal methods to track student progress
- Prepare for and actively participate in all relevant ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings
- Serve on a caseload that includes students from elementary through high school levels
- Champion access to educational resources and support services
