Qualifications & Experience:
- Active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license or corresponding certification
- Demonstrated experience teaching K-12 students who are visually impaired in a school setting
- Skilled in adapting curriculum/materials for low vision or blind students
- Familiarity with braille, assistive technologies, and orientation & mobility strategies
- Strong collaboration skills to partner with families, general educators, and related service staff
- Organized, flexible, and passionate about equitable access in education
What You'll Do:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments, onsite, in coordination with IEP teams
- Assess student needs, develop and implement specialized instructional plans
- Provide direct instruction in braille, low vision strategies, and use of adaptive technology/devices
- Consult with teachers/staff to ensure classroom accessibility and modify learning materials
- Track student progress, update documentation, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings
