Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment (TVI) required
- Experience working with braille students, including braille literacy and use of adaptive technology
- Knowledge of Pre-K through 12th grade curriculum and strategies for differentiation
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education staff, paraprofessionals, and families
- Strong advocacy and communication skills to foster student independence and self-advocacy
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments across grade levels
- Assess functional vision and learning media to determine student needs and implement IEPs
- Design and adapt instructional materials, incorporating braille, large print, and assistive technologies as appropriate
- Provide ongoing training and support to staff and families to promote inclusive participation
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings
- Support social, emotional, and orientation & mobility skill development
- Travel to multiple school sites as needed for student caseload
