Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with staff, students, and families
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs
- Previous experience in a school setting preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum materials as necessary
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other professionals to support inclusive educational practices
- Assess student needs and progress, keeping accurate records and contributing to IEP meetings
- Promote the use of accessible technology and resources to enhance student learning
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for parents and school faculty regarding best practices for students with visual impairments
