Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Mesquite, Texas

This full-time contract opportunity focuses on providing high-quality instruction and support to learners from diverse age groups in a dynamic, ever-evolving educational environment. You’ll serve approximately 12-15 students—including several homebound—delivering essential services in collaboration with school staff, families, and administrators.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Texas Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI) licensure required
- Demonstrated experience delivering specialized instruction to children and adolescents with visual impairments
- Skill in adapting curriculum materials and environments to support varied learning needs
- Ability to coordinate services as an itinerant teacher across several school sites
- Strong communication skills for working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and service providers
- Flexibility to respond to fluid caseloads and shifting campus assignments throughout the school year
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and specialized programming for students
- Provide direct instruction in academic and compensatory skills, including braille, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology
- Conduct ongoing assessments to tailor educational approaches to student needs
- Partner with general education teachers and staff to foster inclusive learning environments
- Support homebound students in collaboration with school and family teams
- Maintain detailed and accurate student progress records and required documentation
- Actively participate in consultations, meetings, and professional development
This is an on-site position with a Monday through Friday schedule totaling 37.5 hours per week, ensuring you can build meaningful relationships across chosen campuses.
