Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Valid Tennessee licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience teaching students with visual impairments within a school setting
- Familiarity with adaptive technologies, Braille instruction, and tactile learning strategies
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments, adapting lessons to diverse learning styles
- Conduct assessments to tailor educational strategies and materials for each student
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to foster an inclusive, accessible learning environment
- Advise on classroom modifications, specialized equipment, and assistive technology
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families and team members
