Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working in school settings or with students aged PreK–12
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology, braille, and orientation and mobility strategies
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, teachers, and families
- Excellent communication, organization, and advocacy skills
- Commitment to fostering inclusion and accessibility in academic environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ visual and functional abilities to guide individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Develop and implement adapted curriculum and instructional materials in accordance with student needs
- Provide direct instruction in braille literacy, assistive technology, daily living skills, and compensatory strategies
- Partner with classroom teachers, staff, and parents to offer training and resources supporting student achievement
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to ongoing evaluations and meetings
- Support students’ transition planning and ensure accessibility across school settings
