Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- State licensure or eligibility as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired
- Previous experience in school settings preferred, but strong recent graduates encouraged to apply
- Proficiency in Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive devices
- Strong communication, consultation, and teamwork skills
- Ability to collaborate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs for visually impaired students
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in groups
- Assess student needs and adapt curriculum and materials for accessibility
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers to modify classroom activities
- Monitor progress, contribute to IEP meetings, and maintain accurate documentation
- Provide guidance and training on assistive technology and low vision devices
- Serve as a resource for family members and school staff
