This full-time contract position offers an exciting opportunity to work as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), providing essential services to students throughout the county. This role is itinerant, requiring travel to various schools within the area to support a school-aged caseload.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Proven experience working with students who are visually impaired, preferably in a school setting
- Strong understanding of adapted curriculum, assistive technology, and Braille instruction
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including general education teachers, special education staff, and families
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between school sites
- Outstanding communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Principal Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting lessons to meet individual needs
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students’ functional vision and educational impact
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide consultation and training for school staff on best practices, accommodations, and assistive technology for visually impaired learners
- Travel to multiple sites within the county to provide direct and consultative services
- Maintain accurate records, progress notes, and documentation as required
