What you bring:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience supporting blind/visually impaired students in school settings
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Organizational skills to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Comfort delivering both direct and consultative services
- Flexibility and commitment to student inclusion and equity
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting strategies for diverse learning needs
- Conducting assessments and contributing to IEP development and progress monitoring
- Training staff, peers, and families in the use of assistive technology and accessibility tools
- Collaborating with general educators, therapists, and administrators to foster an inclusive learning environment
- Traveling between school sites in the area as needed
- Keeping thorough documentation and staying current with best practices in visual impairment education
