Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility in Delaware
- Experience providing instruction to students with visual impairments in K-12 settings preferred
- Strong communication and collaborative skills to work with IEP teams, families, and staff
- Proficiency with Braille, assistive technology, and other adaptive tools
- Ability to assess and document student progress, create goals, and deliver specialized instruction
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to each student’s needs
- Modify and adapt educational materials for accessibility, including textbooks, tests, and classroom tools
- Teach students essential life and orientation & mobility skills, as appropriate
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to support student learning
- Monitor and document progress toward IEP goals and adjust strategies as needed
- Provide training and consultation to educational staff regarding best practices for supporting visually impaired students
