Qualifications and Experience:
- Current (or eligibility for) state teaching certification in Visual Impairments
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or related field
- Previous experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of Braille instruction, assistive technologies, and adaptive materials
- Exceptional communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Passion for supporting the diverse needs and learning styles of students
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and adapt curriculum for students with visual impairments across grade levels
- Conduct functional vision assessments and help determine appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Guide and train classroom teachers and support staff on effective strategies and use of specialized equipment
- Partner with families, therapists, and other professionals to create comprehensive support plans
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to enhance learning outcomes
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings and school team collaborations
