Support students in reaching their full potential as a Visually Impaired Teacher at a welcoming school near Smyrna, DE. Qualifications:
- Valid teaching licensure for Visually Impaired Students (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience working with children who are blind or have low vision in a school or educational setting
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Ability to conduct functional vision assessments and develop individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
- Flexibility to adapt instructional methods and environment to support student success
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments, ensuring that instructional materials and classroom environments are accessible
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and contribute to the development and implementation of IEPs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to facilitate individualized instruction and accommodations
- Deliver instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and the use of assistive technology as needed
- Monitor and document student progress toward goals, adjusting strategies as appropriate
- Offer training and support to staff members working with visually impaired students
