Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Phillipsburg, Kansas

Make a meaningful impact by supporting students with visual impairments in an educational setting. We are seeking a skilled professional to serve as a Visually Impaired Teacher on a contract basis. In this role, you’ll collaborate with school staff and families while empowering students to reach their fullest potential.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working with students who have visual impairments (preferred)
• Solid grasp of adaptive technology and Braille instruction
• Knowledgeable in creating and adapting Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with staff, students, and families
• Ability to assess and tailor strategies for a diverse student population
• Organized, resourceful, and committed to student growth

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized instructional plans for students with visual impairments
• Teach Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility skills as appropriate
• Adapt classroom materials and curriculum to promote accessibility and inclusion
• Participate actively in IEP meetings and collaborate with cross-functional school teams
• Provide training and resources to educators and families on best practices
• Monitor student progress, documenting achievements and areas for growth
• Advocate for appropriate accommodations within classroom and school environments
