Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Phillipsburg, Kansas
Make a meaningful impact by supporting students with visual impairments in an educational setting. We are seeking a skilled professional to serve as a Visually Impaired Teacher on a contract basis. In this role, you’ll collaborate with school staff and families while empowering students to reach their fullest potential.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students who have visual impairments (preferred)
- Solid grasp of adaptive technology and Braille instruction
- Knowledgeable in creating and adapting Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Effective communicator, both written and verbal, with staff, students, and families
- Ability to assess and tailor strategies for a diverse student population
- Organized, resourceful, and committed to student growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized instructional plans for students with visual impairments
- Teach Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility skills as appropriate
- Adapt classroom materials and curriculum to promote accessibility and inclusion
- Participate actively in IEP meetings and collaborate with cross-functional school teams
- Provide training and resources to educators and families on best practices
- Monitor student progress, documenting achievements and areas for growth
- Advocate for appropriate accommodations within classroom and school environments
