Long-Term 1:1 Pediatric Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Pierre, SD

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) required
• State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired mandatory
• Experience working 1:1 with pediatric students highly desirable
• Strong understanding of adaptive technologies and Braille instruction methods
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative attitude with multidisciplinary teams
• Flexibility to work on-site for the duration of the assignment

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction and support for a visually impaired student in accordance with their IEP
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure an inclusive, accessible learning environment
• Adapt educational materials and integrate assistive technology as needed
• Track and communicate student progress, ensuring educational goals are met
• Participate in IEP meetings, contributing insights and recommendations for ongoing student success
• Serve as a resource to staff and parents regarding best practices in visual impairment education
