Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with active Louisiana DOE Certification and specialization in visual impairment
- At least 3 years of experience in elementary, secondary, or special education
- Strong communicator and dynamic motivator in diverse environments
- Proficient in assistive technology and Braille instruction; orientation & mobility training preferred
- Highly organized, analytical, and adept at juggling multiple priorities
- Able to meet district credentialing requirements, including drug screen and fingerprint clearance
- Capable of providing your own transportation across school sites
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional services to students with visual impairments across multiple school locations
- Collaborate with general education staff to provide accessible reading materials and instructional aids
- Conduct in-service training for school personnel on support strategies
- Consult and communicate with the Louisiana Department of Education and district leadership
- Obtain and organize adaptive textbooks, resources, and educational materials
- Support school initiatives and perform other duties as directed by the Director of IDEA
