This full-time position (37.5 hours/week) focuses on delivering direct and consultative services to a diverse caseload of 12-15 students across approximately six campuses. Adaptability is key, as campus assignments and student rosters may evolve throughout the year, with at least three students requiring homebound instruction.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current, valid Texas State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TSVI) certification
- Experience providing itinerant services or working in a school-based setting as a TVI
- Confidence working with early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school age groups
- Understanding of IEP development, student assessments, and family collaboration
- Skill in building partnerships with general and special education staff
- Strong organizational abilities and flexibility with changing caseloads
- Commitment to traveling between campuses as needed
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver evaluation and instruction for students who are visually impaired, both on-site and for homebound learners
- Participate in student IEP meetings and case conferences
- Support classroom teachers in adapting materials and environments to promote accessibility
- Maintain detailed records, track student progress, and complete required documentation
- Advocate for assistive technology and accommodations
- Travel regularly to assigned campuses (itinerant role)
