Key Qualifications:

• State licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain
• Experience or training in teaching students with visual impairments, including those with additional disabilities
• Proficiency in Braille instruction, adaptive technology, and accessible instructional materials
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with classroom teachers, therapists, and families
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Organizational skills for timely completion of reports, assessments, and documentation

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conduct functional vision assessments and provide direct instruction based on student needs
• Adapt curriculum and classroom materials to meet visual accessibility requirements
• Deliver individualized instruction in Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility concepts, and daily living skills
• Collaborate with general education staff and other team members to create inclusive, supportive learning environments
• Serve as a resource for educators and families, providing strategies and training on best practices for working with visually impaired students
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans as necessary for optimal outcomes
