Qualifications & Experience
Valid Texas teaching certificate with a Visual Impairment (VI) endorsement or a Master’s degree specializing in visual impairment education.
Demonstrated experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) is strongly desired.
Preference given to candidates with experience teaching Braille and adapting learning materials.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit for working with general education teachers, support staff, and families.
Reliable transportation is required for travel between multiple school sites.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide direct instruction and support tailored to students' Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, ensuring access to the general curriculum.
Assess visual functioning and develop individualized education and transition plans.
Teach core academic content using braille, large print, and other accessible methods.
Consult with general education staff, support personnel, and families to foster an inclusive learning environment.
Support student use of assistive technology and mobility skills.
Regularly track, document, and report student progress toward educational objectives.
