The Opportunity

ProCare Therapy is urgently seeking a passionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a full-time contract role in San Antonio, TX. In this itinerant position, you will partner with a local school district to provide essential services, ensuring students with visual impairments have the tools, adaptations, and support they need to thrive both academically and socially.
What You’ll Do
Direct Instruction: Deliver specialized instruction in Braille, Nemeth Code, and assistive technology based on each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Assessment: Conduct Functional Vision Assessments (FVA) and Learning Media Assessments (LMA) to guide instructional strategies and IEP development.
Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and parents to adapt classroom materials and foster fully inclusive learning environments.
Itinerant Caseload Management: Travel between assigned school sites within the district to deliver consistent, high-quality services to your caseload.
Advocacy: Champion the needs of your students, promoting self-advocacy and independent living skills.
What You Bring
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education for the Visually Impaired.
Certification: Active Texas state certification as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments.
Skills: Proficiency in Braille instruction and a strong working knowledge of current assistive technologies for the visually impaired.
Logistics: A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to navigate an itinerant caseload.
Recent graduates with proper certification are encouraged to apply!
