Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Sugar Land, Texas

Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credential with a certification in Visual Impairment (TVI) or a related area.
- Experience working with children and adolescents who are blind or visually impaired.
- Proficiency in creating accessible lesson materials, including use of Braille and assistive technologies.
- Strong communication and organizational skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Empathy, patience, and adaptability in supporting diverse learning needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ visual needs.
- Assess students’ abilities and progress using appropriate evaluation tools and methods.
- Teach core academic subjects and orientation/mobility skills as needed.
- Guide classroom teachers and staff on supporting visually impaired students, including adapting materials and environments.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and program effectiveness.
- Engage with families to communicate progress and strategies for supporting their child’s development.
