Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Illinois Teacher for Visually Impaired (TVI) license required
- Experience teaching students with visual impairments in a school-based setting is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and accessible instructional strategies
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills for working with families, specialists, and classroom teachers
- Empathy, patience, and a willingness to tailor plans to meet individualized learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one instruction adapted for a student with a visual impairment
- Implement and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive student support
- Modify classroom materials, utilizing braille, large print, or audio formats as necessary
- Track progress, adjust instructional approaches, and regularly communicate with parents and staff
