Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Illinois Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) license
- Experience working with visually impaired students, preferably in a school environment
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with staff, families, and service providers
- Ability to design and implement individualized educational plans
- Creative problem-solving skills and a commitment to accessibility and inclusion
- Familiarity with assistive technology for the visually impaired is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized instruction to a student with visual impairment, adapting curriculum and materials as needed
- Assess student progress and needs, updating educational plans in consultation with IEP teams
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to foster an inclusive environment
- Modify classroom activities and assignments to suit the student’s specific needs
- Advise on acquisition and usage of adaptive tools and technologies
- Communicate regularly with families to set goals and share progress
