Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Teaching License for the Visually Impaired (IL TVI License) required
- Experience working with students who have visual impairments preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop, implement, and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Knowledge of assistive technology and accessible instructional materials
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction adapted to the student’s individual needs
- Assess and monitor visual functioning, adjusting strategies as needed
- Develop materials and lesson plans using tactile and auditory approaches
- Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families
- Ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations
- Advocate for the student’s accessibility and inclusion in the school community
- Support the student’s progress toward academic and functional goals
