Step into an impactful educational role supporting a middle school student with visual impairment in a part-time, contract setting. A dedicated and compassionate Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) is needed to provide tailored instruction and specialized support to a 6th grader. This position is structured for maximum focus: two individual 30-minute sessions per month, running through the end of the 2025–2026 school year.
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Georgia PSC certification with a Vision Impairment/TVI endorsement.
- Strong familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs for students with visual impairments.
- Experience working with or supporting assistive technology and accessibility strategies.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to provide expertise to educators and staff to enhance inclusive practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, individualized instruction to support the student’s learning goals according to the IEP.
- Work cooperatively with classroom teachers and school personnel to ensure accommodations and accessible classroom materials are consistently in place.
- Offer consultation about assistive technology and accessibility tools to optimize student participation.
- Track and report student progress, updating the educational team on vision-related needs and strategies.
- Help ensure compliance with IEP accommodations and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Guide staff as necessary on best practices for supporting visually impaired learners.
